White Rose Libraries has recently revitalised its approach to engagement, introducing new online platforms to build connections across the sector. Through a new social presence, WRL is able to engage in discussions and consolidate our online community. 

Alongside maintaining a presence on X (formerly known as Twitter), WRL is excited to now be active on Bluesky, launching the @whiteroselibraries account at the end of 2024. The account will be used primarily to build connections, facilitate conversations, and share news, events, and updates from WRL and its connected institutions. Bluesky is WRL’s primary social media platform at present, so be sure to follow!  A new and expanding platform, Bluesky has allowed WRL to engage with colleagues and other institutions in new ways, and to stay up to date with trends and news from across the academic library sector. In tandem with this, White Rose University Press recently launched a WRUP BlueSky account (@wrunipress) alongside its existing X profile. WRUP is excited to connect with other university presses and join in discussions around open research, open access, and academic publishing.

Looking forward, WRL is exploring new platforms to invest in, including LinkedIn. WRL has a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders, from university academics and library staff, to other institutions and collaborations. Investing in different platforms will allow WRL to reach each of these different communities.This will bring fresh opportunities for collaboration and innovation in academic libraries and higher education – something we’re passionate about!

WRL’s revitalised online presence is complemented by the recent launch of the new WRL website. The updated website provides an informative and accessible space for sharing WRL’s activities and updates, and is where you can find our latest news, contact details, and more.
